Statement From Taliban

The Taliban sent this statement.  There is a great deal of false information here but good to know what they are saying:

Statement of Islamic Emirate regarding the NATO summit in Chicago

According to news reports, NATO is going to hold a diplomatic summit in the city of Chicago from May 20-21 where Afghanistan will be the most important agenda on the table. Therefore the Islamic Emirate, in order to fulfill its historical obligation, wants to declare the below points to the participants of this conference:

1. The invasion of Afghanistan by America and its allies under the banner of ‘war of terror’ was an unjustified and tyrannical action which was only carried out for political and economical gains. Terrorism and ground realities had nothing in common. No Afghan had a hand in military operations in other countries and neither are there any proofs hence the occupation of Afghanistan by America is neither sound legally or logically.

2. As a result of this occupation, the invasive America imposed upon the Afghan Muslim nation a few war criminals that were cast offs, whose hands were red with the blood of innocent humans and who were involved in transgressing against the life, wealth and honor of the ordinary people. The Afghans have been facing torment from their brutality and crimes for the past decade while the invaders have just turn a blind eye to them.

3. The American intelligence networks including the CIA state that members of Al-Qaida have all left Afghanistan and that there are not more than fifty left therefore the military presence of America is not for its own security but a long term strategy for turning our country and the region into its colony. The declaration of the new president of France, Francois Hollande, that all its troops will be removed from Afghanistan at the end of this year is a decision based on realities and a reflection of the opinion of its nation. We call upon all the other NATO member countries to avoid working for the political interests of American officials and answer the call of your own people by immediately removing all your troops from Afghanistan.

4. The invading soldiers in Afghanistan martyr the defenseless children, women, elderly and other people of Afghanistan in their night raids and blind bombardments without having to worry about the consequences. The perpetrators of these violations are all criminals. The claimants of Human Rights must not condone them. Similarly, the occupying forces have created local militias under the title of ‘Arbakis’ who transgress against the life, wealth and honor of ordinary people and martyr innocent Afghans even though they cannot confront the Mujahideen physically. If the invaders want to fund and equip such groups and continue their blind bombardments then the responsibility of civilian losses caused in Afghanistan will rest squarely upon the shoulders of these forces.

5. We want to declare to the whole world the stooge Kabul administration tortures innocent prisoners, extracts false confessions and hands out long term prison sentences. The security apparatus of Kabul regime discriminates and treats them with prejudice. Ending this oppression is the obligation of every human being.

6. The invading forces have destroyed whole villages along with their inhabitants (Tarako Kalacha as example) in Afghanistan with twenty five ton bombs. They have razed entire bazaars with hundreds of shops in Helmand and Uruzgan. They have also uprooted the greenery and orchards in Panjwai and Zhari districts of Kandahar and similarly in Band-e-Sarda of Ghazni province. All this savagery is committed under the slogans of war on terror. Today’s international community which touts tolerance, justice and human rights, how can it justify this savagery in Afghanistan at the hands of these self proclaimed civilized men?

7. In order to brainwash the public and to vilify the Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate, various networks in Afghanistan headed by the invading forces commit some acts such as the destruction and burning of bridges and schools, carrying out explosions amongst civilians, targeting of specific people for vile purposes and others, the Islamic Emirate declares its complete disavowal from them.

8. The occupying American forces have created secret prisons inside all of their airbases in Afghanistan where they keep innocent Afghans and carry out various forms of torture on them which has resulted in the martyrdom of many. Besides this, thousands of innocent Afghans are being held prisoners in Kandahar and Bagram airbases without any charges. These are all people who have no knowledge of the New York incident but are been held captives under its pretext for years and are languishing in unbearable conditions.

9. A survey conducted in April by CBS news and New York Times showed that 69 percent of Americans oppose the war in Afghanistan and want their troops out of Afghanistan. Similarly, the people of nations allied with America have also shown their opposition to the occupation of Afghanistan. So the NATO member countries who claim to be the elected representatives of its people and consider their government the peoples government, by the people, for the people; how will they answer the call of their people in this summit?

10. The Islamic Emirate once again declares that it holds no agenda of harming anyone nor will it let anyone harm other countries from the soil of Afghanistan hence there is no reason for the occupying countries including America to continue the occupation of Afghanistan under the pretext of safeguarding its own security.

11. The occupation of Afghanistan by America through the use of force is a clear violation of a sovereign state which is not justified under any international law. Those Afghans that are fighting against this violation are independence seeking Mujahideen who demand their due rights and putting up resistance to this occupation is their legal right. This armed struggle will only come to an end when the Afghans acquire their independence and a government of their choice. Imposed agreements and international conferences are not the solution to the Afghan quandary. The solution lies in giving the Muslim Afghan nation their complete legitimate and natural right.

12. The Islamic Emirate has left all military and political doors open. It wants to obtain the rights of the Muslim Afghan nation through all possible ways and as a responsible force, is prepared to accept all it announces however the invaders are utilizing a one step forward, two steps backwards tactic. They are conjuring artificial excuses to prolong the occupation of Afghanistan, are wavering in their stance and do not seem to have a clear strategy for a political solution. The Islamic Emirate considers the claims of the invaders of finding a political solution as meaningless until they come out of their fluctuating unstable state.

13. The occupation of Afghanistan by America and its allies is the fundamental problem. If this matter is solved, the Afghans understand each others language and share a common culture therefore they can reach a resolution regarding the country. The foreigners should forgo prolonging and complicating the Afghan issue for their colonialist objectives.

To end, we must reiterate that the Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate will keep proceeding with their ongoing Jihad until it attains its goal. The terrorism and savagery of the invaders and their stooges will not be able to stop it. We call upon the leaders of the NATO member countries to realize the ground realities of Afghanistan and acknowledge the natural rights of the Afghans which are an independent nation and establishment of a government of its own choice. Similarly, they should stop the gross human right violations ongoing in Afghanistan and the desecration of the sanctities of Afghans committed by their troops. But if they still refuse to pay attention to the consequences of their criminal actions, then they will also be erased along with their oppression and terror on this blessed soil just like the previous imperialists and only their stories shall remain.

It's nice to see they finally found someone who knows English to write their propaganda.

There is more truth in this propaganda than most Americans may find comfortable.

There is no question that the Afghan campaign is an infinite sinkhole, and the American taxpayer is getting stolen blind by the Karzai regime, which has established stratospheric benchmarks for corruption. What do we do in response? We just send more money.

One of the primary reasons that Dubai flourishes is because corrupt Afghans bank their stolen US proceeds there. And we let them do it. We turn a blind eye to the practice, rather than freezing accounts and seizing funds or even bothering to mount the most desultory of investigations.

Yet again, the US is hamstrung by the sheer incompetence of its leaders at multiple echelons of responsibility. America is a paper tiger, and our enemies laugh at us. They do not fear us. They laugh at us.

The real dilemma for America is that our Afghan allies will inevitably drag us down with them to defeat. The conundrum is complicated by the fact that there are sizable percentages of Afghans who truly do not desire a restoration of Taliban rule. They like their new schools, they like the infrastructure efforts that we make, and they prefer to turn their faces towards a future where they can climb out of the Middle Ages, rather than return to the repressive past of the Mullahs.

But the current Afghan government is corrupt, the average Afghan loathes the regime, and our counterinsurgency efforts to forge illiterate tribesmen into defenders of an abstraction like a coherent nation state are doomed. They are loyal to tribes. Not to a country. The ANP and ANA units that we train are beset by desertions, the members routinely steal from their civilian countrymen, and they are prone to shooting their ISAF trainers.

How many more men will we lose to Afghans going rogue? Even one more is too many for me. Afghanistan is not worth any more American blood. I do not care how many pipelines are built, I do not care how many rare minerals can be mined there. I do not care about Afghanistan. They do not wish to be the 51st US state. They wish to live under Sharia, and to oppress their women. Who are we to deny them?

I don't know that we will be dragged down to defeat if we stay in Afghanistan Heywood, but I agree we should not be there. We should have left five eyars ago. We destroyed the Al_queda in Afghanistan and the Taliban never attacked us until we invaded their country. How they treat each other is their own business and none of ours.

To an extent, how they treat their own is "their own business and none of ours." But, we stood idly by when the Nazis took over in the 1930's and that has become a mark of shame for us for almost a century now. We needn't be in Afghanistan in the manner and in the numbers that we are, but there has to be something short of total troop commitment on the one hand and total benign neglect on the other. We've got to find what it is!

"...that has become a mark of shame for us"

No it hasn't. That is just propaganda by the US military-industrial complex that promotes constant war so they can stay in business and in power.

We are the most militaristic and aggressive nation in the history of mankind. It needs to stop.

If we wish to remain in Afghanistan for geopolitical purposes, then we should consolidate onto remote FOBs with airstrips on them and supply our boys from the air. No more convoys through Pakistan. We need to stop working with that duplicitous regime, and we need to lean towards India, hard.

We should quarantine our forces from Afghan forces. In fact, if we ceased all interaction with them and just ignored the Afghan government entirely, we would be better off. We should just tell the Afghan government that we are planting the American flag on as many small FOBs in the middle of nowhere as we please, and if they do not like it, we can always drop a few cruise missiles on their heads.

We still have B-52s. We should not shy away from using them. Carpet bombing should be restored to the American playbook. It will keep our munitions factories busy, and keep all of the folks working in them on the payroll. Besides, bombing Afghans back to the stone-age is not that big a deal. Most of them are already living that way, anyway.

We should cease mounted and dismounted patrols, and confine ourselves to heliborne operations. Needless to say, we should reduce our footprint dramatically. And our mission should change from nation-building to focusing solely on killing bad guys on the Pakistan border, in fact we should be operating inside Pakistan, and we should get poised for war with Iran. And we should drop napalm on every inch of the country where they are growing opium. I mean, we should raze it. And we should interdict the thousands of tons that they have stockpiled. Russia would love us for it.

Our current path is not viable. Our leaders are too incompetent and too weak and too politically correct to do what really needs to be done. And most Americans are too stupid to hold our leaders accountable. Go ahead. Open another beer.

Time to pull out the big conventional forces, most of them, and only leave the support units and sufficient QRF elements to back up our special operations units, who should increase night raids, not stop them, and who should penetrate into Iran and Pakistan whenever the mood strikes them.

    How does that sound?

Nation building is part of the current strategy because military history has shown it to be one of the most successful weapons in the arsenal against insurgents/terrorists. Iraq is one example of where it worked, Somalia is an example of where it didn't take place and now look at it.

Freezing out the lousy Afghan government will just put essentially everyone against us, but with lots of weapons and equipment that we supplied to them in addition to what the Talibans have, like NVGs, body armour, mortars, artillery pieces, etc. Whilst we certainly could knock out the Afghan Airforce quickle, we'd still have to deal with all those pieces that will turn the lives of our servicemen even worse. Imagine one of them turning on their IR laser on his M4 only to be spotted by dozens of Talibans (not that it will matter, since they can already see his entire platoon due to their IR flags). Or when the unlucky soldier's buddy spots one of the Talibans who just gave him a sucking chest wound, responds by sendind half a mag of 5.56 right in his chest and see him rise up in two seconds, because the Talibans are all wearing our old body armour, that has trauma plates that simply will not be broken by 5.56.

Or the fact that the next time we find ourselves in another counter-insurgency we can count on no one trusting us after they read about Afghanistan, so we'll never be able to do another Iraq style "win in the end" or "win at all" ever again for the next four hundred years.

How smart would it really be to go into Pakistan and Iran whenever we feel the need to? Think of this: Iran is trying to construct nuclear weapons. Pakistan has 110 nuclear warheads. Iran and Pakistan are neighbours. If we started invading Pakistan every now and then, they'd not like us very much. Also, the Abbottabad raid was possible because the Pakistanis weren't expecting it. We've sold them lots of advanced things, like F-16s. If we start flying in every now and then, we can expect at least one "Blackhawk Down" to occurr at least every third time we cross their border, and the only way to prevent it will be to invade them properly, like Iraq '03. That wouldn't be cheap, and every country in the world, with the exception of India would really really hate us. They'd probably start dealing with the Chinese instead of us, because speaking in regards to militarily in foreign countries, they be behaving better than us, and their things would be cheaper.

By the way, since when did we care what the Russians thought of us? Seeing as how we're in effect nudering their nuclear capability by installing a robot shield in Europe, they're still going to hate us even if we stop drugs from coming into their country.

Ryden, Europe did a lot of nation building in the Middle East in the last couple of centuries and look how well that has worked out. The ME is now the most fucked-up region on the planet.

All these nations already hate us, but they love our money, and we pay out millions in bribes to the leaders in those countries. We wouldn't have any reason to fly in every now and then if we'd mind our own business because then we wouldn't get attacked. When was the last time Peru, Costa Rica or Switzerland had to defend themselves against terrorists? They get to reserve their riches for their own use. They aren't sending their soldiers into foreign countries to be maimed, crippled and killed. And they aren't giving away their citizens riches to build nations in stone age back waters like Afghanistan.

We should have beeen out of Afganistan yesterday. I remember going after the Terroist's Camps. The original mission. We completed that so we should be gone. We would not like being invaded and cost is a secondary reason for leaving. But the United States has a way of pissing off other countries and has not learned to walk softly. USA's money can not buy their way into another country. If we would learn to leave other countries alone or at least go in get the mission done and get out. We thing every country in the world wants democracy and a McDonalds on a corner.

being cooked up in DC. Afghanistan is where armies go to die, where countries sojourn to be humiliated, where might is the rule of law. Sending them money and advanced weapons, and training them is the most foolish thing that anyone could do. It is like using your city's gang task force to train gangsters in urban warfare and giving them automatic weapons and money to boost their operations... Then telling your citizens it is for their own good. Obama and company could only be excused if they were literally smoking crack. Since they are probably not jacked on crack, there is no excuse for willfully giving aid and comfort to our enemies.

:-| Here we are again. We need to get out of Afghanistan. Hindsight is 20/20 vision so it is easy to say we should never have been in Iraq and should have concentrated all force on Afghanistan. However, "you have to hit the golf ball from where it lands". We have folks there dependent on our presence...so do we do another "Vietnam?"...just pull out? These Taliban are worse than the Communists.Glad it is not my decision but Obama will not do anything until he is re-elected.

I think that the US has failed to consider the lessons of history. In all of recorded history, no one has maintained long term gains in Afganistan. Not Xerxes, not Alexander the Great, not Rome, not The Ottoman Empire, not Kahn, not Britian, not India, not the USSR. No one has succeeded there, because they are too tribal. They will fight each other until they are invaded, then they band together long enough to kick out the invader, then they go back to internal squabblings. The only long term success that was ever achieved in Afganistan was that of religion, and Islam kicked out Bhuddism. I think that we have achieved our purpose there, punishing AQ, so now it is time to leave before we throw any more money into the black hole.

Just as a reminder, Fred Thompson had this to say years ago about the Afghan war and Obama:

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1109/Fred_Thompson_Afghan_war_has_been_lost.html

He was right by the way and he also said about the same thing a couple of years earlier. I can't find it now, my google skills are lacking I know.

    14. Please get out of our country already! We would like to get back to marrying/raping multiple wives under the age of 13, preventing women from going to school, executing non-muslims, keeping the Afghan economy in the stone age, harboring terrorists, and generally doing bad things.

Here is a statement I made way back in 2007.

    Papa Ray Says:
    March 3rd, 2007 at 12:00 am

Everyone has covered “Ram’s” story pretty well. I am going to wait and see what he does in a couple of years.

Most likely back to Afgan and into politics. Good or bad thing..who knows.

What I wanted really to comment on is this:

…”–but for humans beings, whose innate capacity for reason doesn’t seem to vary very much throughout the world…”

I not only disagree, but believe this [believing the above statement] is a common failing of Americans.

I have met and interacted with “extremeists” “fundmentalists” and they do not have the ability to reason. Their beliefs have destroyed that ability.

This is not just talking about Islam, but also other religions and other “groups”. I am sure you also know a few rabid lefties that can not, not only not reason, but can not even converse with you anymore.

Never, never believe that “others” think like you do, reason like you do or will act in some projected manner in the future.

It will not only disappoint you, make you fail in many endeavors nowadays, it can get you killed.

    Papa Ray

    --------------------------

"We" are not the same. Not even in this Republic, the United States of America.

All you have to do is read the U.S. News to see that values, responsibility, learned opinion-beliefs, are very different. The same of humans raised and cultured in other areas of the world are even more different.

Can the scorpion and the frog or the lion and the lamb ever have the same values, beliefs?

Maybe in a perfect world which will never be.

Yes, Americans, and stooges - Stop committing Human Rights abuses. Go home.
After you do this, we'll come in and show you how its done. We'll abuse women in true 7th century style. We'll throw acid over any girl who attends or even wishes to attend a school, and we will slay school teachers daily. When we finish doing our work here, no one will be whining about American human rights abuses. We'll give them something trully worthy of the name human rights abuses.

You won't have seen anything yet compared to our rape and salvery of the underaged, and the savage repression of anybody daring to even fly a kite, play some music, or defy our fanatical islamofascist nutcase insane dictats.

And yes, I'm mocking those Taliban Islamofascist nazi's. Islamists in that part of the world wouldn't comprehend *really* about human rights if it grew teeth and jumped up and buried itself in their asses. And that applies to the greater part of the Umma as well.

Curious allegations coming from the Taliban. As Darren has said, they are the brutal ones, although they wear the justification of their 8th century religion. We forget the public beatings and executions in the soccer stadium. We forget that it's OK to throw acid on a woman fro using a cell phone, ad infinitum. I say let's get everyone home and leave the Afghans to their corrupt Karzai, the Taliban and their 8th century ideology. Their day will come.
