Government opposition has grown in Thailand to historical proportions.  Millions of Thai people from all walks of life, and from across the political and economic spectrum, are uniting to overthrow the current government, which is corrupted to the core.

So far, the massive anti-government rally has been peaceful.  Many government buildings have been peacefully seized and are being occupied.

I am in Turkey down near the Syrian border and so am not a personal witness, but am checking the news and working my sources to keep tuned in.  Myriad images from the government opposition show that the activists are not muscled thugs, but normal people, including grandmothers and grandfathers, who are tired of watching Thailand suffer under the hands of a few.

An anti-government activist sent me their statement, which is published in six languages:

  It's very simple, if you want to get rid of an ELECTED government, you persuade the voters not to vote for them again. Unfortunately, Khun Suthep and his cronies are so corrupt and incompetent, they cannot persuade enough voters to do so!

    Winning an election doesn't entitle a government to make arbitrary decisions or put out unjust laws to benefit the leader's family and cronies. The government was elected by the people so the people have all the right to get rid of the government any time if they choose not to wait for the next election.
    While Suthep may play a vital role in the current demonstration, the uprising has very little to do with Suthep or the Democrat Party. With or without Suthep and/or the opposition party, people will continue to come out in droves and nobody can stop the demonstration. For it is the unjust and tyrannical government that is bringing the people out onto the streets.

  Dear Micheal, as you know, the problem in Thailand is much bigger and dangerous as it involve the royal succession. On one side you have the followers of the princess who is very much loved by the people for her charity activities; on the other those backing the prince: a buffoon who nominated his poodle Admiral and makes it sit at table during official dinners. I understand your discretion (especially if you want to go back there) but no picture can be complete or understandable without this background info which is hidden behind parties (yellow for the democrats and the King, red for Thaskin) and politics.

  When someone underminds some people decisions with power of money, money sadly wins. To overcome this, the minority leader must be more effective in swaying people's opinions. It maybe costly taking lots of energy but this is a must. Right now paths have been defined and choices made. People seem to be willing to makepersonal sacrifice to go for it. Whever actions taken, those who act on either side must be responsible and be prepared for the consequence.

  Thai people need a military nudge...just enough to push this thing over the edge. Don't give the Shinawatra Nazi clique a chance to shore up it's defenses...the Thai military could be good guys, finally.

  Sadly, for some people once they have lots of money then the next thing they want is power. We all know that all Thai politicians are corrupted in some way but what we can't stand is Thaksin wants to get rid of the king system and have everything under him!
  
  As much as I'd really like him to change his heart and become a good individual who really cares about his country but it ain't gonna happen so I really hope he gets what he deserves.
  
  Thailand does not belong to just one person and you cannot own it doesn't matter how much money you have.
