Approximately 13 Coalition members have been killed over the period of a week.  In fact, this sad reality is normal.  There is another report today that three Special Forces Soldiers were murdered by Afghan Security Forces.

Earlier in the week was also a massive suicide bomb.  It could have been much worse.  One source in Afghanistan sent me a photo from just as the attack unfolded.  The mushroom cloud was huge.  Another source mentioned that some of our KIA were leaving Camp Fiaz in Asadabad.  They were heading toward a meeting at the governor’s office and were hit at a choke point that was a bridge.

The Public Affairs office of the 4th Brigade 4th Infantry Division shared this on Facebook:

“There has been some inaccurate reporting from unauthorized sources about recent events in the Task Force Mountain Warrior AO. As many are aware, the Brigade Command Sergeant Major, Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin J. Griffin, 45, of Laramie, Wyo., Maj. Thomas Kennedy, the brigade Fire Support Coordinator, Maj. Walter D. Gray, USAF and Mr. Ragaei Abdelfattah, USAID were recently killed during a suicide attack in Kunar Province. Certain media outlets have reported that the Brigade Commander has been seriously wounded. We can confirm that Col. Mingus is unharmed, although he was present during the attack. There were, however, other leaders and soldiers harmed in the attack, which is a favored TTP of an enemy who cares little about who he harms in the pursuit of his goals. We are respecting the privacy of those wounded until they are prepared to release the specific information on the attack and their injuries. Please keep the soldiers, leaders, families and loved ones of the fallen and wounded in your thoughts and prayers as we remain focused on the mission of securing the provinces of Eastern Afghanistan and training and partnering with the Afghan National Security Forces.   Any way this can be spun to make our politicians look good? Tell me why we are "fighting" this war like we are? Why are we wasting our great men and our $ on this shithole? Look at Iraq....you leave and it is as big a mess as it has ever been. You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. The whole middle east isn't worth one US Military man. We have no leadership in DC....in fact you wonder whose side they are on. Definitely not on the side of our great men fighting. What can we do about this....Someone please tell me!!!!!

    Another bad week? Every week our military is there is bad. The insanity of our involvement there is incredible.We are sacrificing men and treasure to people who hate us. How many times must we be told that our men were killed by persons in Afghan uniforms? Who were these persons and how did they get the uniforms? There must be a run on stores selling uniforms . Perhaps by Catholic priests or Israeli infiltrators? Our own Major Nidal Hasan who killed thirteen or so of our soldiers at Fort Hood was wearing an American uniform. Did he get it at the same store as the Afghan assassins.

    In a general sense:
    The reason is that if we do not engage the enemy in that "shithole," - which in fact is very striking, beautiful, dramatic, and horrific - the enemy will then have the initiative to exact a more intensive engagement on our soil, more than likely, against our softest, most valuable targets; i.e. September 11, 2001. As they say, "You Americans have all the watches, but we have the time." In short, perseverance is mandatory to win a war of this nature. The Soldier is willing. Are the people willing?

  Yes we (New Zealand) lost 2 of our own and 5 injuried, one still fighting for his life in Germany.
  Our provincial reconstruction team went to the aid of the ANA and were ambushed both with small arms and RPG fire.
  Another bad day for sure.

  Let's pray and fast as Christians that the ANA will finally start seeing more honest hard working Afghani soldiers that are truly committed to the peace and security of Afghanistan and that the double crossing murders of our American & Allied soldiers will stop and that the wicked men who are in the ANA will be captured and dealt with. Praying for all of the soldier's souls on all sides no matter good guy or enemy guy or what nationality flag or what military patch they wear to be saved by the Lord Jesus Christ. Let's pray and fast ...

  There are reasons the United States continues ground operations in Afghanistan/Pakistan:
  1. The financing of the "War on Drugs" can NOT continue without the poppies grown in Afghanistan/Pakistan and over 80% of the poppies in the World are grown in this area plus the distribution system of this product is in place.
  2. The distribution lines of petroleum and natural gas are established throughout this area.
  3. The search and destruction of al Quaeda and those other groups that are against the United States and Our Allies in points #1 & #2, will continue.
  Money is the reason for continued U.S. military operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan/Pakistan, as the military-industirla complex only survives on government subsidies and contracts.

    Number 2 is verifiable BS. Nice try though. Bet you can't name a single pipeline that goes through Afghanistan.

      The Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline, also known as Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline, started construction in the late 1990's after the Afghans defeated the Russians and Russia left Afghanistan.

        More verifiable BS, there is no such pipeline through Afghanistan. There is a proposed pipeline but it does not now or has ever existed.
        So, when you stated distribution lines are established, pointing to a proposed never built line is BS. Since, this line does not exist it cannot go through Afghanistan and you still have not named a single pipeline that goes through Afghanistan. You are a liar and spreader of propaganda. No construction ever started in Afghan.

  Nobody seems to know the answer to my question above. I already know the answer ....but you won't like it. Admit who the enemy is...Islamists all over the world wherever they exist. Stop playing games with them. Round them up and send them home from here in our own country. Secure our borders. Become energy independent...we can but won't presently. Load up the big ones and tell Islamic countries that one bad move in our direction, one threatened terrorist sponsored act from them and they're glass and mean it. There is no other way to fight this world enemy. And no....I don't think I'm the only one who thinks this...but maybe one of the few with guts enough to say it. I don't believe in committing suicide as a nation for the sake of PC and multi-culturalism. Some cultures aren't worth a dime..

    You are the only one willing to commit genocide on a level greater than Hitler. Your plan is sure way to end the US. After, the first nuke or before, the rest of the world will unite against us, economically and militarily. Idiot.

    We lost more troops taking small islands in WWII than we have in Afghanistan. You and Chamberlain would have gotten along good. Freedom isn't free.

  A & N , I am with you on that one. I can not trust the Islamic terrorists. Hopefully the next U.S. President will do precisely that and much more. Not only that carrying out the Will of the American people to destroy Islamic terrorists &. The 22 Islamic governments. Destroy the printing house where the Qurans are printed in Saudi Arabia. The U.S. Air Force needs to air bomb Mecca & the Quran printing office responsible for un-told millions of murders. The 22 countries need to become Christian countries then only there will be peace with medical & scientific advances being made so that people are able to live better lives. The Quran belongs in the dust bin of history for the ages.

    Destroy the 22 Islamic countries and turn them into Christian countries? Destroy the printing houses that make Qurans? Good Lord, I am so glad that you are not in charge of anything. I love how folks are so quick to instruct violence from the safety of their quite little homes back in America.

  These people march in the streets screaming bloody murder " Death to America, Death to Israel " What should the response be then when these crazy nutcase ishamelites start using nuke weapons ? These people really want us dead. That is how sick minded these filthy terrorists are.

  Keep in mind the islamic terrorists are the Hitlers of the 21st century and the U.S. Army are fighting the islamic terrorists just like the U.S. Army did in WW II with the German Army & German backed terrorists.
