My wife and I support a couple of kids through Compassion International (CI). I've been supporting kids through CI since the early 1980's. I always liked the fact that of all such organizations, the amount of money you send them sees the highest percentage going to directly benefit the kids, with a small percentage going to overhead. Good outfit.

Despite the fact that I live in San Diego, I'm not at all fluent in Spanish, but got quite a bit of the gist of your article, I think (didn't think to use the Google translator like Gary did). Anyway, I really enjoyed looking at the photos and reading what I could, as I sponsor a little girl through Compassion, Intl. who is from the Karen tribe and lives in the mountains of northern Thailand. She is 10 yrs. old now (have sponsored her since she was 4 and we have the same birthday)and she has sent me photos of her and her grandparents in their home, which looks much like some of the buildings in your photos. Her parents harvest rice. She is in school and seems to be a happy girl. She sends pictures she has colored and they always include the sun, rainbows, flowers, birds, trees, rivers, and mountains. They give me a little feel for the area where she lives. Probably too much detail, but thanks again, Michael!
