I came here exactly the same way, and I am moved by the portrayal of servicemen in their everyday struggle, as well as Michael Yon's own struggle to show us the unnadulterated truth of this and other conflicts.

I just finished reading an original 1944 edition of Ernie Pyle's "Brave Men." and went to wikipedia to learn what he had to say about the Battle of the Bulge and the end of the war. Imagine my chagrin when I found out he had been killed in April 1945 in the fighting on Okinawa. It got me thinking that maybe there was someone like Ernie covering Iraq and Afghanistan. I poked through the University of Indiana School of Journalism's Ernie Pyle archives where some shmuck claimed there was a guy named Michael Yon covering the wars just like Ernie. I half expected that Michael Yon put that link in and was trying to sell some something, but after reading just one of Michael's dispatches I was hooked. I should have gone to bed a couple hours ago but couldn't stop reading. Pulitzer is on the way.
